Consultation has concluded. This page will be updated when the final report is available.
Council has engaged BMT Eastern Australia Pty Ltd, an independent consultant specialising in flood studies, to prepare an Overland Flow Flood Study for the Emu Plains Catchment.
The extent of the study area is shown on the map and includes the suburbs of Emu Plains, Emu Heights and Leonay and the Tunnel Gully, Knapsack Creek and Lapstone Creek Catchments.
Thank you to everyone who gave their input during our community consultation. We are currently reviewing all feedback and preparing a draft report.
We expect to complete the flood study by the end of 2019, for public exhibition in early 2020.
Council - Dr Amir Abbasnia on 4732 7777 or email Amir.Abbasnia@penrith.city
BMT consultants- Joshua Eggleton on 8960 7755 or Joshua.Eggleton@bmtglobal.com.
Why are we doing the study?
The preparation of a flood study will help Council to understand the existing flooding problem within the catchment. It will also help to identify where flood risk reduction measures may be best implemented to reduce the cost of flooding to the community, assist with emergency management, and guide future development.
