Consultation has concluded.
Council has prepared an Outdoor Dining Policy to establish a framework under which Council will issue approvals for outdoor dining.
This policy is designed to make it easy for restaurants to expand their existing dining activities outdoors onto the public footpath or within a public space or park adjoining an existing business. At the same time it aims to protect the safety of customers, staff and members of the public using the area.
The policy is to be adopted as an approved local policy under section 161 of the Local Government Act 1993. Section 160 of the Act requires councils to give public notice of a draft local policy and place it on public exhibition.
The proposed policy is now on public exhibition and may be viewed online below, or in person at Council's offices during normal business hours until Monday 20 May 2019. Copies may also be obtained by contacting the Property Development Department on 4732 7777 or email outdoordining@penrith.city.
Submissions on the proposed policy are invited and need to be received in writing by Council before 5pm on Monday 3 June 2019. Submissions should be addressed to the General Manager and can be mailed to PO Box 60, Penrith, NSW 2751 or emailed to council@penrithcity.nsw.gov.au.
